Bangalore's biggest fashion extravaganza kickstarted with Bangalore Times Fashion Week 2021 and Day 1 of the fashion showcase didn't disappoint at all! The shows that left everyone asking for more were Sui Dhaga by Riya & Shelly Lather and Vimor by Pavithra Muddaya.
Sui Daaga by Riya & Shelly Lather showcased an exclusive collection which represented indian festivals, Indian festival colours, best of the silks fabrics, with the pinch of western silhouettes. The collection ‘METALLICA PALM’ was a premium collection made by Sui Daaga. The collection comprised metallic detailings which represented the glamour smartly combined with the colourful silks which represented indian festivals.
The founder of the eponymous label ‘Sui Daaga’ has been deeply entrenched in the world of fashion for the past years. Sui daaga has styled and designed for multiple celebrities and won numerous awards. Sui daaga is known for redefining and modernizing how actors look in Indian movies and reviving some crafts. The other show, Vimor by Pavithra Muddaya is a label which has an interesting story behind it. It started off by selling old sari auctioned by the temples called Temple Saris. Slowly when these auctioned sari began dwindling, our focus shifted to recreating them keeping in mind the scalability and financial returns of the designs. Vimor started training and encouraging small town weavers to re-create and produce traditional, marketable sarees that suited our aesthetic sensibilities. Design is central to Vimor’s work and Pavithra continues to be actively involved with documenting design, motifs and weaving techniques. Respect, empathy and integrity are the foundations on which Vimor was built, by motivating and building confidence in weavers to believe in their art.
