Dawn of injustice: Batman v Superman trailer leaked online

Earlier this week it was announced that the first trailer for director Zack Snyder’s feverishly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would be launched on Imax screens on 20 April, but last night saw a bootleg copy leaked online.

The low-quality camcorder rip, which features Portuguese subtitles, was uploaded to YouTube before being taken down minutes later. It starts with snippets of dialogue, including lines from Jesse Eisenberg and Holly Hunter, as they discuss the negative public reaction to Superman.

The plot appears to kick off with the population of Metropolis unhappy over the power being wielded by the Man of Steel, which leads to tension with Bruce Wayne.

“Devils don’t come from hell beneath us,” Lex Luthor says. “They come from the sky.”

The trailer goes on to show a Superman statue being defaced with the words “false god”, a reveal of Ben Affleck’s very, very gravelly Batman voice, and a look at a full-on showdown between the two heroes. “Tell me, do you bleed?” Batman asks. “You will.”

The leak comes as a disappointment for Warner Bros, which had been releasing tickets for the unveiling of the trailer at screening events across the US – although nearly all seats had reportedly been filled before the leak.

Zack Snyder had also launched a teaser for the teaser via Twitter.

Batman v Superman hits cinemas on 25 March, 2016.
