Dawn O'Porter's sweet tribute to Caroline Flack ahead of tragic first anniversary

Heartbroken Dawn O'Porter paid tribute to her late pal Caroline Flack ahead of the anniversary of her death.

Caroline took her own life last year aged 40 in her north London flat on February 15 last year.

Her presenter pal, 42, had an outpouring of her grief, just shy of the one-year anniversary of the Love Island host's suicide.

Looking back, Dawn remembered quickly bonding for life with BFF Caroline for the first time when they crossed paths on the set of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

Caroline hosted two series of the I'm A Celeb spin-off show in 2009 and 2010 where she became BFFs with Dawn.

Dawn wrote: "I just went down a you tube hole to find anything from the week I met Caroline, and here it is. Australia, on a TV set in a jungle somewhere. It was one of the most fun weeks of my life.

"I took the job as a free ticket to get to Oz to see my best friend who’d just moved to Melbourne. I didn’t know I’d meet @gemagain and Caroline and gain two more of the best friends you could ever dream of.

"We laughed ALL week, told each other EVERYTHING and bonded for life. The absolute greatest of times."

From that very moment they met, the pair were the closest of friends over the years.

In a devastating message, Dawn revealed this week was "really hard" and deep "agony" for her.

She grieved for her friend a year on from the tragedy, which sent shockwaves through the showbiz world.

The author admitted she would never stop missing the bubbly star she hailed as her "brilliant, gorgeous and funniest friend".

She went on: "This week is really hard. Agony, in fact. I can’t shake it. Monday marks a year since Caroline died.

"That horrible day that changed so many lives forever. I’m dreading it. But there were 14600 + days of Caroline’s excellent life that say way more about her than what happened on that day.

"Through the heartbreak, I remain grateful for the happiest, most fun and naughtiest memories. There are so many. Probably too many. I’ll never ever stop missing her. My brilliant, gorgeous and funniest friend."
