Dawn O'Porter and Chris O'Dowd gather with friends to remember Caroline Flack

Dawn O'Porter and Chris O'Dowd gathered friends last night to remember their close pal Caroline Flack.

Presenter Caroline was tragically found dead in her London flat on Saturday, with the news of her passing devastating her family, friends and fans.

As tributes continue to pour in for the former Love Island host, bestselling author Dawn, who is married to Roscommon actor Chris, took to Instagram to tell her followers how the couple honoured their late friend, RSVP Live reports.

Dawn wrote: "We asked some of our friends to meet us in a pub to raise a glass to Caroline. Chris and I are so devastated. We just cry and cry. We can't stop. We loved her so much. We shared our stories. We laughed, we got mad. We cried even more. I feel like I'll never stop crying.

"Then she came on the TV in the pub. The guy on the news saying how tragic her death was. It was so strange. A group of people were talking about her and I yelled 'SHE WAS MY FRIEND'.

"And they raised a glass to her too, and I told them how fun and special she was. We all agreed we need to take care of each other and be kind. It's all we can do. Oh my love, thank you to our friends who came."

It comes after Love Island, which Caroline presented for five years, paid a special tribute to the TV star on Monday night.

After cancelling Saturday and Sunday night's episodes,  the reality show returned on Monday and opened with a special tribute led by narrator Iain Stirling.

He said: "Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this dreadful time.

"Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers.

"Like many of you, we are all just trying to come to terms with what happened. I only hope that we can be kinder, always show love and listen to one another."

He added: "Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show, you were a true friend to me.

"I am going to miss you Caz."

The screen then cut to the Love Island logo and the show's trademark theme tune was left out as a mark of respect for her family.

As well as that,  the show's Just Eat ads were replaced with by messages and contact details for The Samaritans alongside the trending hashtag #BeKind.

If you are struggling, don't suffer in silence - you can contact the Samaritans for free, non-judgemental conversation at any time of the day or night on 116 123 or text 087 260 9090 (standard text rates apply).
