Former Georgia running back Nick Chubb went on a tear during his first season with the Browns, setting Cleveland’s rookie rushing record and going for 996 yards and eight touchdowns.
Chubb did not go crazy in the air game, but he did reel in 20 catches for 149 yards ands two touchdowns.
Now, with a full season under his belt, look for the Browns to go to Chubb early and often in 2019, rather than waiting to get him situated with the offense.
Big expectations from coach:
Cleveland is lucky to have Georgia’s second all-time leading rusher, and the team’s position coach, Stump Mitchell, thinks Chubb can one day eclipse both 1,000 yards rushing and receiving.
“If we didn’t have so much talent here, I think Nick could be a guy that can have 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving,” Mitchell told WKYC.
Chubb for team MVP in 2019?

Before you get mad at me for not choosing Baker Mayfield or Odell Beckham, Jr., understand that Nick Chubb opened the passing game up last year for Baker. Chubb was close to the century mark rushing and graded as the top RB for PFF. Nick Chubb will carry the load and be the dominant back until Kareem Hunt comes back and they will split carries the second half of the season.
Sure Baker, OBJ, or even maybe Landry could make a run for the team MVP on offense, but I think Chubb will be a 1500+ rusher this year and will open the offense up for Baker to be able to fire away all over the field.
