Davy Fitzgerald hailed as 'amazing mentor' as new RTE reality series airs

Davy Fitzgerald has come in for huge praise from TV viewers after the second season of his reality show 'Davy's Toughest Team' aired last night.

The series sees the Waterford hurling manager act as a mentor to a group of young people as he puts them to the test in a wilderness boot camp.

The All-Ireland winner with Clare has long been regarded as one of the best man-managers in the GAA and viewers loved how he motivated his team on Wednesday evening.

"Davy Fitz is some man, I could be doing with him getting me outta the bed in the mornings for work, a complete legend, and fair play to all these young fellas taking part #DavysToughestTeam," wrote one Twitter user.

"Super stuff from Davy & the lads, it just shows when a person listens & helps vulnerable young people that it can give them huge motivation. Davy Fitzgerald as per usual showing what an absolute gem he is, a credit to our #GAA games. #DavysToughestTeam," wrote another.

While another said, "#DavysToughestTeam this is the best form of therapy, a group of young lads working together to help themselves and each other. Davy is a wonderful mentor such an inspirational guy. He brings hope to these lads. Well done Davy. Love this programme."

"I think all these young men on #DavysToughestTeam are inspirational. It can't have been easy for any of them to open up and be so honest about their lives and feelings. I sincerely hope it works out for all of them. Davy Fitz is an amazing mentor to them. Fantastic programme," wrote another.
