Davina takes a dive

The ratings for Davina McCall's BBC1 chatshow have slumped to a new low of just 2.5 million viewers. And it's not just Davina that's suffering - last night BBC1 suffered its worst peak time share in history. Are you surprised? One of our correspondents wasn't:

"The only people surprised that no one is interested in watching the embarassingly awful Davina McCall are the BBC airheads who gave her yet another programme. They like her, so they think everyone else does.

"But there is no evidence to back them up. Her last prime time Saturday night show was ignored by viewers, as was the one before. Whatever that was. Mercifully I've wiped her disastrous CV from my mind.

When will the BBC brains wake up and realise the truth. The annoying woman doesn't have the wit or intelligence to host a TV show. Any type of TV show. And no one over 45 knows who she is... or cares. Yes, she may be the host of Big Brother, but the unfortunate people who watch that show don't tune in to see her squawking, irritating, amateurish behaviour.

"Davina McCall is the female equivalent of Johnny Vaughan. Through sheer luck they found themselves inside the magic rectangle and thought that if they talked fast and loud and pulled strange faces, they could con audiences - and TV execs who know no better - into thinking they possessed comedic talent. They do not.

"Kind regards from someone who cares about quality television hosted by intelligent broadcasters. Which is why I am watching less TV now than ever before."
