Davina McCall still talks to three Big Brother stars and always felt bad for Jade Goody

Davina McCall has revealed that she still speaks to three former Big Brother housemates years on from their time on the legendary reality TV show.

The much-loved TV presenter, 55, who presented the show for a decade between 2000 and 2010 is over the moon about Big Brother's return after the iconic show celebrated it's 20-year anniversary back in 2020.

Sharing her excitement about Big Brother's comeback, Davina revealed that she's eager to see what the new format of the show will be like, and what changes TV bosses have made to make the show more relevant to today's audiences.

"I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do with it. If they go back to real basics and don’t try and do anything too different, which is what I think they’re going to do, I’m going to really enjoy it," she told.

Lifting the lid on her decade-long presenting stint on the show, Davina also opened up about which housemates she has stayed in touch with down through the years, with This Morning star Josie Gibson being one of them, while she also dubbed Alison Hammond as a 'superstar'.

Davina revealed: "I’m still in touch with people like Anna Nolan from series one and Cameron Stout, who was the winner of series four.

"I saw Josie Gibson the other day and she’s just brilliant. And Alison Hammond is like a flippin’ superstar. I’m so happy for her."

When it comes to her all-time favourite Big Brother housemate, Davina admitted that both Jade Goody and Nikki Grahame hold special places in her heart.

Davina felt protective over both stars, explaining that she sometimes felt as though viewers were laughing at Jade instead of with her at times during the first series of Big Brother.

"I always say Nikki Grahame, and Jade Goody in her first series. Both were brilliant, funny characters, although I did worry that sometimes people weren’t always laughing with Jade but sometimes at her, and that upset me," Davina revealed.

"They were both amazing and it still shocks me and saddens me that we’ve lost them."

Earlier this summer, it was announced that the reality TV giant will be returning to screens, this time on ITV.

At the time of the announcement, ITV boss Paul Mortimer, who is Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions, said: "This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today's audience."

Big Brother will air on ITV this Spring.
