Davina McCall recalls the 'awkward' time spent living with ex after their split

Davina McCall has opened up about her "awkward" split from ex-husband Matthew Robertson and revealed the pair actually continue living together after the break up.

The former couple announced their split after 17 years of marriage back in 2017. They share three children: Holly, 18, Tilly, 16, and 13-year-old Chester.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping, the 53-year old Masked Dancer judge revealed that living with her ex left her feeling like she "hadn't moved on".

Speaking to the magazine, the Davina said: "We’d still been living in our house together, which was awkward. I hadn’t moved on and I was in this weird no-man’s land."

"But then I moved out and started renting a place and that felt like the first step in a new phase. I thought 'OK, we can look forward now'," the former Big Brother presenter added.

The TV host has gone on to find love again, now dating stylist Michael Douglas, but describes getting divorced as "an enormous deal".

When asked if she had any tips on how to handle the breakdown of a marriage, the mum-of-three urged people to check in on anyone going through a divorce, even it they appear to be okay.

She said: "My advice to friends of anyone going through it is: even if someone looks fine, support them.

"No one gets divorced without really thinking about it - this idea that people rush into it, that just doesn't happen. It's an enormous deal and it really is hard, so be there."

Throughout the interview, the much-loved TV presenter also discussed how reaching 50 was a turning point for her and how her relationship with her body has changed as she's aged.

Davina, who has released multiple exercise DVDs, admitted that she used to be 'critical' of her body when younger but has since grown to accept and embrace her imperfections.

‘Now I have wrinkly skin on my tummy, I have a little varicose vein down one leg, I have flabby bits on my arms, and there’s nothing I can do about it – but I think I look fierce!’ she revealed to Good Housekeeping.

‘I see the same thing happening with my girls, and I think “Don’t worry, you’ll love yourself in the end, you just have to get through this bit”.’

The TV personality has previously discussed how going through the menopause at just 44 left her with 'brain fog'.

Enraged by a lack of conversation around a topic that affects so many women, Davina was inspired to make a documentary about the taboo issue.

'I was frustrated that no one was talking about this thing that 51% of the nation goes through," the presenter said of her one-off special 'Davina McCall Sex, Myths and Menopause'.

The star won praise for her emotional investigation that explored the hidden struggles that millions of women go through and her frank and open discuss of how she manages her symptoms.
