Davina McCall hires vocal coach and quits fizzy drinks to save her voice

She was regularly accused of shouting during her time presenting Big Brother.

Now, Davina McCall has had to hire a vocal coach to save her voice after she started going hoarse.

The presenter - who relived the highlights of the Channel 4 show last month - has had to quit drinking fizzy drinks to try to save her damaged voice.

“I’ve been seeing a vocal coach because my vocal chords were slightly under strain and I was going a bit raspy,” she reveals - adding the problem was exacerbated by nights out.

“Especially if I was out in a loud situation. The last time I went out I had a hoarse voice for three days.”

Previously Davina has insisted she isn’t shouty by nature.

“On the first series of Big Brother, there were always 1,000 people in the audience and I didn’t know you didn’t need to shout with a stick microphone,” she said.

“I just knew I couldn’t hear myself. So I shouted. Since then I’m known as the shouty presenter. But actually, I don’t shout. I don’t walk around screaming.”

Now, Davina’s voice coach has told her to quit fizzy drinks.

“I was really sad about that,” she admits on her Making the Cut podcast.
