Davidson's Mains road closure after tree toppled over on to taxi on Cramond Road South

A tree has toppled over onto a taxi in Davidson's Mains, with Cramond Road South closed as a result.

Emergency services have been in attendance at the scene of the incident, close to the Tesco Metro store, on Friday afternoon. High winds have been battering the capital for much of the day.

There are not thought to be any serious injuries, although motorists are being diverted away from the scene for the time being. The route has been completely closed between the B9085 Quality Street and Lauriston Farm Road (Silverknowes).

The community Facebook page TRIM and Friends of West Pilton shared an image from the scene which shows an ambulance in attendance, and a police cordon up in the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were called around 3.30pm on Friday, 22 May, to a report of a tree falling on a taxi in Cramond Road South, Edinburgh. No one was injured but the road is currently blocked."
