Davide Ancelotti has reportedly postponed his quest to become a manager in his own right.
Earlier this week, it emerged that the Italian, son of legendary manager Carlo, was one of a number of candidates Rangers were considering for their vacant position.
Reports in Spain and Italy suggested it was a done deal for the Real Madrid No.2 to move to Ibrox.
However, it seems those stories were not entirely accurate, with sources at Rangers insisting nothing has been decided yet amid the background of the takeover by a US consortium involving 49ers Enterprises.
Now, according to Spanish journalist Alberto Pereiro, it seems any potential deal to take Ancelotti to Glasgow is off the cards, with a 'lack of big opportunities' on the horizon.
They say that the 35-year-old is set to form part of his dad's coaching team with the Brazil national side until after the 2026 World Cup.

A section of the report, translated into English, reads: "Davide Ancelotti will remain alongside his father for at least another year.
"Just when it seemed the time had come to embark on his solo coaching career, the Brazilian project proved too lucrative to abandon his father, and he will remain in the duo with Carlo until at least the summer of 2026, when the World Cup will be held in the United States and Mexico.
"Everyone around the Ancelottis assumed the time had finally come to take the plunge and make a name for himself away from his father's shadow, but the magnitude of his father's project, once again, and the lack of 'big' opportunities have postponed Davide's desire to start a new phase of his life without Carlo's tutelage."
