Davide Ancelotti finally looks set to take his first steps into management after months of speculation surrounding his future.
Rangers were heavily linked with the son of football legend, Carlo, as they searched for a new manager.
It's understood the Ibrox board did hold talks with the highly sought-after coach, however, decided that Russell Martin was the best route to go down.
He was believed to be close to becoming the next head coach at Ibrox though, with betting suspended on him taking over from Philippe Clement.
