Davide Ancelotti 'decision' made amid rumours of the sack

Davide Ancelotti will not be sacked by Botafogo, a report has claimed.

It has emerged in Brazil that the son of legendary boss Carlo is safe in his position as head coach for now, with no plans by the club to remove him from his role.

Ancelotti was previously a target for Rangers when they were looking for a new manager during the summer.

He was interviewed for the vacancy before Patrick Stewart & Co. opted for Russell Martin.

And his failure to get the Ibrox job coincided with Ancelotti being given his first chance in management by Botafogo, after he departed Real Madrid with his dad.

Ancelotti has come under pressure after their Copa do Brasil exit to Vasca da Gama. They've also suffered poor results against Sao Paolo and Mirassol in league action.

It follows a positive start of just one defeat from his first nine games in charge of the club.

However, it would seem that the 36-year-old is no under threat of losing his job.

Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte claims the head coach has the faith of owner John Textor that he can get things back on track.

It's said the Lyon owner sees Ancelotti's position as 'untouchable'.

His contract runs until the end of 2026, and the club is believed to be intent of allowing Ancelotti to see out his deal.

Ancelotti has already said he won't quit despite protests from Botafogo fans.

He said: "The pressure is normal. My job is about results. We always have to respect the fans' opinions.

"We have to win games. I know the work I'm doing, I know the pressure I felt working with my father too at Real Madrid. That's part of the job.

"We're going through a difficult time, we have to improve with results.

"We have to keep working. I enjoy the work I do. We need time to look for explanations.

"I will win the fans round with results, not words. Winning games and playing well and making the fans believe in the team again.

"But yes, I understand the supporters' frustrations."
