David Wotherspoon delivers emotional St Johnstone address as club legend drops on-air F bomb after Double heroics

St Johnstone legend David Wotherspoon delivered an emotional post-match interview after the club claimed a historic Scottish Cup victory.

The win over Hibs secured an unbelievable domestic Double for the Perth side as they became the first team to achieve the feat outside of Glasgow since 1990.

Wotherspoon, who has been with the club since 2013 when he left the Hibees to sign for Saints, was on the brink of tears after the final whistle at Hampden.

He couldn't avoid dropping an on-air expletive before he thanked his family who were locked out of the national stadium during the pandemic.

The St Johnstone hero told the BBC: "I can’t even speak, I was f****** out.

"Sorry, my legs were gone but the boys just defended for their lives there. It’s unbelievable to see where we were at the start of the season to where we are now.

"A cup double, in one season, it’s unbelievable. It’s credit to the staff, all the backroom staff, it’s been magnificent."

When asked how they can better it in Callum Davidson's second season in charge, he said: “I don’t think that we can, but we’ve got an exciting season ahead.

"Obviously European football for us, and we want to push and get more successes and we will look to do that.

"I just want to say one last thing and thank my family back at home watching.

"My kids, my mum and dad, thanks."
