David Wilson Homes East Midlands built 726 homes last year - which it valued at £132m

A national housebuilder built more than 700 homes across central England in the past year, with a value of £132 million.

David Wilson Homes East Midlands – which is part of Barratt Developments – has highlighted the achievements in a new report estimating its contribution to the Midlands in the financial year to June 30.

The housebuilder, which is  based in Coalville, north west Leicestershire, covers Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire.

Its socio-economic footprint report includes figures relating to things such as its support for suppliers, local communities, public services, employment and even the environment.

The figures suggest the housebuilder:

·         Supported more than 2,100 jobs directly and through contractors and suppliers in the 12 months

·         Employed 29 new graduates, trainees and apprentices

·         Supported 470 subcontractor companies and 400 suppliers

·         Built 726 homes

·         Sourced 90 per cent of the components from UK manufacturers

·         Planted or retained more than 21,500 trees or shrubs on its developments

·         Spent £10.8 million on local contributions including through planning charges such as the Community Infrastructure Levy and s106 contributions.

The report on David Wilson Homes’ Socio-Economic Footprint in 2019 was carried out by Lichfields planning and development consultancy.

The broader Barratt group sold 17,856 homes in the year to June 2019, making it the biggest housebuilder by volume in Britain.

It gained the maximum five star rating for the tenth consecutive year in the 2019 Home Builders Federation Customer Satisfaction Survey.
