David Watson has left Kilmarnock to take up a new opportunity with Bolton Wanderers.
The attacking midfielder had been weighing up his options at Rugby Park with his contract set to expire at the club where he has spent the first 14 years of his career.
Bolton are now in the EFL Championship having won promotion from League One last season and Watson opted to take on a fresh challenge and leave the Scottish Premiership club.
Killie confirmed the news in a statement earlier this evening and revealed they had agreed an "undisclosed compensation package" with Wanderers to greenlight the move.
It is understood that cross-border compo amount will be less than had the playmaker decided to join a club in Scotland.
"Kilmarnock Football Club can confirm that David Watson will join Bolton Wanderers upon the expiry of his contract, subject to international clearance," the statement read.
"We have reached an undisclosed compensation package with the newly promoted English Championship side.
"David has been with the club since the age of seven and went on to make 140 senior appearances for the club, becoming Scotland Under-21 captain in that time too. He scored 13 goals and contributed six assists during his time at Killie, playing a major role in the first team set-up over the last three seasons since his breakthrough.
"Everyone at Kilmarnock sincerely thanks David for his commitment to the club, having worked his way through the age groups of our academy, and he departs with our best wishes for his career."
Watson had been the subject of a January transfer window bid from Bolton last season but Kilmarnock decided to keep hold of the youngster to help them stay in the division.
