David Walliams prepares for final leg of Thames swim

Little Britain star David Walliams will begin the final leg of his epic attempt to swim the length of the river Thames on Monday. The comedian had raised more than £800,000 for charity by Sunday night.

On Sunday he aimed to finish the day in Teddington, south-west London, supported by fans and celebrity friends. He has saved the tidal section of the river, from Teddington to Westminster, for the final day of his 140-mile challenge.

Walliams, who is swimming to raise funds for Sport Relief, said: "The two things that have really kept me going so far are the updates of the fundraising totals I'm given and the stunning support I've been given by the public.

"There must have been tens of thousands of people along the route and I can hear their cheers as I'm swimming."
