David Walliams in tears as he chooses his Golden Buzzer act on Britain's Got Talent

It's only week one and already David Walliams has chosen his Golden Buzzer act.

The comic sobbed as he picked a group of school children and their teacher from Flakefleet Primary School, in Fleetwood to sail through to the semi-finals for their performance of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

As they sang the super-cute choir took on various roles including a little boy dressed as a firefighter and others donned masks of the judges' faces in an uplifting routine similar to the Sainsbury's Christmas ad featuring a child dressed as a plug.

Some of the children were so moved by their performance they burst into tears at the end.

David dabbed his eyes with a tissue as he described the act as "so moving."

Judge Simon Cowell said: "It's so important to kids this age to remind them to have fun. This to me is what BGT is all about."

"You're one of the most joyous things I've ever seen. You've made all our hearts soar today. So this is what I think," said David, punching the coveted Golden Buzzer.

The judges Simon, David, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden all  gave the choir aged five to 11 the thumbs up.

And there was another moving moment when host Ant McPartlin was moved to tears backstage by a little girl who told him "I missed you."

Ant has made his comeback to the show with co-presenter Declan Donnelly after taking a break from work commitments over the past year following his drink-drive conviction and rehab stint.
