David Walliams has denied attempting to steal a dog in Wales, after spotting his uncanny resemblance to the e-fit of a suspect.

On Wednesday (17 March), Cardiff police released the e-fit of three men wanted for questioning in the incident, with Walliams being alerted to one of the men in particular.

“Is that me on the far left?” tweeted the Britain’s Got Talent judge. “I think I would remember stealing a dog.”

The suspect in question is one of three men being sought by Cardiff detectives over the attempted theft of an eight-year-old Labrador.

The crime occurred on a wooded trail near Pentwyn in Cardiff, where a 30-year-old man suffered facial injuries and concussion after being set upon by three men who attempted to steal his dog. The contents of a dog mess bag were expelled onto one of the suspects, who all fled on foot.

The dog was unharmed in the incident, while his owner is currently recovering well at home.
