David Vanecek thanks Hearts fans for their support despite nightmare spell in Gorgie

David Vanecek has sent a message of thanks to Hearts fans following his departure from the club last week.

The Czech striker endured a torrid six months at Tynecastle after arriving in January from FK Teplice.

He made just seven appearances for the Jambos however, with fitness an issue and Craig Levein describing one prematurely ended display against Dundee as “rubbish”.

He has now moved on to Hungarian team Puskas Akademia, but took the time to thank the fans of his former side despite things not working out in Edinburgh, with the highlight being the birth of his daughter.

“Thank you Jambos!” Vanecek posted on instagram. ”I want to say thank you for always standing behind me.

“Unfortunately, my career in Hearts didn’t go as I wish. That’s life and there are more important things in the world.

"In Edinburgh my daughter was born. The fans here are amazing! Thank you for supporting me all the time

“Thanks to you, this club and city will always be in my heart!

“I’ll wish you all luck and I wish all the fans to celebrate the success of your beloved club soon!

“And now it’s the time for a new challenge.”
