David Unsworth admits Everton midfielder has improved 'without a doubt' following first-team promotion

David Unsworth believes Dennis Adeniran has improved 'without a doubt' following his promotion to first-team training at Everton.

Adeniran has worked with Marco Silva's senior set-up for the entire campaign and despite not being included in a matchday squad, the under-23 manager is pleased by his development.

"Without a doubt, certainly from a tactical point of view," Unsworth replied when asked if he had noticed a marked progress in the 20-year-old since making the step-up.

"He's a great athlete and has got great power and pace but what we've tried to do is teach him the game defensively as a central midfielder.

"That's something with young players that takes a little bit of time."

Adeniran featured centrally for most of the double-winning campaign last term but has, more recently, impressed in a wide-role.

"We've looked at areas to get him and he loves running with the ball," Unsworth explained of the switch.

"There's loads of development left in Dennis and loads of opportunities for him to get better. He's another player that is a work in progress to get him in the first-team."

Speaking in September, Unsworth admitted Adeniran could be allowed to leave on loan when the transfer market reopens in January.

"There's the potential with Dennis," he said at the time. "I'm not too sure, he trains with the first-team every day which is great for him and he's getting his games with us.

"That might be a possibility but it wouldn't surprise me if he stayed until the end of the season with the first-team. Who knows!"
