David Turnbull makes Motherwell comeback as Celtic target returns after eight-month injury agony

Motherwell star David Turnbull has been named on the bench for tonight's Premiership clash with St Mirren.

The 20-year-old is back in the squad for the first time since the horror knee injury that killed his £3million move to Celtic in the summer.

But after months of extensive rehab - Turnbull could feature for Stephen Robinson 's side against the Buddies at Fir Park.

The Northern Irishman praised the club's medical staff last week ahead of Turnbull's return to action.

He said: “We are doing everything to make sure he’s 100 per cent right for the rest of his career. He looks very, very good at this moment.

“But with the surgeon and our physio we are guided by exactly what they want us to do.

“We have the top physio in the country in David Henderson. He is top class in the way he works with David and all the players.”

The Scotland U21 star burst onto the scene last season after netting 15 Premiership goals with a host of clubs monitoring him.

But it was Celtic who won the race before the previously undetected injury was picked up during his medical.
