David Turnbull leads 3 Celtic fringe stars set to be handed their big chance against Lille

Celtic fringe stars David Turnbull, Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala are set to be handed their chance against Lille on Thursday night.

Boss Neil Lennon today confirmed that the trio are set to be given their chance in the Europa League group stage dead rubber.

Since his move from Motherwell in the summer, Turnbull has only start one game for the Hoops and is yet to make an appearance in the Europa League.

Striker Klimala has also effectively been frozen out since his appearance in the derby defeat to Rangers, playing just 23 minutes of football since mid-October.

Ismaila Soro has been the forgotten man at Celtic Park since £2million summer move from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda, turning out in the Hoops just four times and earning 37 minutes of football under Lennon.

If he is given the green light at Parkhead tomorrow it will be his first start for the club.

Lennon said at the Hoops press conference today: “We are looking at Klimala, Turnbull, Soro getting game time which they deserve and need with the run of games coming up.

"It’s ideal to give them an opportunity to play.”

Lennon also noted that Nir Bitton, Hatem Elhamed and Olivier Ntcham "are all major doubts for tomorrow" through injury.
