David Turnbull in Celtic Player of the Year double as rising star scoops two top awards

Rising star David Turnbull has scooped a Celtic end-of-season award double.

The 21-year-old midfielder was named the club's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year on Wednesday night.

Turnbull, a £3million signing from Motherwell last summer, was a peripheral figure during his first few months at the club but an impressive Europa League display against Lille catapulted him into the first-team.

He's been a regular ever since and a rare bright spark in an otherwise bitterly disappointing campaign.

Kristoffer Ajer scooped the Players' Player of the Year gong as he was recognised by his team-mates.

Ismaila Soro's long-range rocket against Dundee United earned him Goal of the Season while Odsonne Edouard takes home the top goalscorer trophy.

The winners were unveiled on Celtic TV ahead of Wednesday night's Premiership clash with St Johnstone, Celtic's final home fixture of the campaign.

It's an emotional evening in Glasgow's east end as legendary skipper Scott Brown bids farewell to the club ahead of his summer move to Aberdeen.

The 35-year-old leaves as one of the most decorated players to wear the jersey and the Celtic players will line up in a special commemorative tracksuit top ahead of kick-off.
