James McFadden reckons David Turnbull took a "huge risk" in decking Dylan McGeouch during Celtic's draw at Pittodrie.
The midfielder was shown a yellow card by referee Willie Collum for sweeping the Aberdeen star's legs after the whistle had blown in the dying minutes of Wednesday night's clash at Pittodrie.
A frustrated Turnbull had been penalised for a foul on McGeouch and responded by upending him in front of Collum, who chose to book the 21-year-old former Motherwell star.
Analysing the incident on BBC Sportscene, McFadden believes he could've been shown a red, and host Steven Thompson appeared surprised the whistler opted only for yellow.
Thompson said: "Normally Willie has the red card out his pocket like Usain Bolt!"
And McFadden replied: "It has to be excessive force and David does go to have a kick then sweeps at Dylan McGeouch.
"He's taken a huge risk and I don't buy into this 'he's not that type of player'.
"But I think it sums up Celtic that the most composed player in that team loses his composure with something that's totally uncharacteristic.
"I think you're running a huge risk in doing that right in front of the referee.
