David Turnbull dealt bitter Celtic injury blow as midfielder 'ruled out for two months'

Injured Celtic star David Turnbull is set to miss two months of football, according to a report.

The midfielder limped out of the Premier Sports Cup Final victory over Hibs with a hamstring problem to add to a considerable absentee list at Parkhead.

It was the latest in a string of hamstring issues to blight Ange Postecoglou 's team this season.

And now The Scotsman report the issue could keep Turnbull out of action until March, meaning he would miss the rearranged derby showdown with Rangers on February 2.

After the final, Postecoglou admitted the Scotland international had been a victim of Celtic's intense schedule.

"David suffered from the amount of games we are playing at the moment," the manager explained.

"We are suffering because of that.

"We have not been able to rotate the squad a lot and that is hurting us at the moment, picking up these injuries."

Kyogo Furuhashi broke down again during Sunday's victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, with Celtic also missing captain Callum McGregor, Joe Hart, Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston following a midweek draw against St Mirren.
