David Turnbull confirmed by Celtic as one of three Scotland Under-21 positive Covid tests

Celtic have confirmed midfielder David Turnbull is one of the three positive Covid-19 tests recorded among the Scotland Under-21s squad.

The former Motherwell midfielder was away with Scot Gemmill's side during the international break as they narrowly missed out on qualification for Euro 2021.

He will now isolate for 10 days according to government guidelines.

Turnbull was not included in the matchday squad for Saturday's visit to Hibernian and he will also miss out on Thursday's game away to Sparta Prague in the Europa League and the Premiership match at home to Ross County next weekend.

A post on Celtic's Twitter account read: "Following David Turnbull's return from international duty, we can confirm that David has tested positive for COVID-19.

"He will be required to self-isolate for 10 days and will receive every support from the club. Get well soon, @10DavidTurnbull".

Three players recorded positive tests in all, with eight more identified as close contacts along with two members of staff among the Under-21s.

Record Sport revealed on Friday night that Livingston's Rangers loanee Robby McCrorie and an unnamed Aberdeen player have also tested positive.

Motherwell have also confirmed that Allan Campbell and Barry Maguire are two of the close contacts required to self-isolate for two weeks.
