David Turnbull Celtic Old Firm derby reprieve after 'red card' sweat

Celtic star David Turnbull will be available for next weekend's derby clash against Rangers, after being told he doesn't have a case to answer in a potential retrospective red card flash point.

The former Motherwell hero was yellow carded for an off-the-ball foul on Aberdeen's Dylan McGeouch in Wednesday's 1-1 draw between the sides at Pittodrie.

There was a suggestion from some quarters that the incident was worthy of a red card in retrospect, and he could have been hauled in front of an SFA disciplinary panel.

That depended on how referee Willie Collum witnessed the incident, but because he had a full view of the tackle, there won't be any further action.

This means that Turnbull will be available for selection for the Ibrox showdown on Sunday.
