David Tennant fans' fury over actor's BAFTA award snub despite appearing in ads

David Tennant fans were left angry after the actor failed to be nominated for a BAFTA TV award despite appearing in recent adverts for the awards show.

David's pandemic comedy Staged with Michael Sheen quickly became a beloved lockdown sitcom when it premiered last June.

It saw David and Michael playing hilarious exaggerated versions of themselves in Zoom-based 20-minute episodes, which proved so popular, they returned for a second series earlier this year.

He also appeared in ITV crime thriller Des – a three-part miniseries about the Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen watched by over 10 million people.

However David wasn't nominated either in lead or supporting actor role, much to his fans distress.

One said: "It wouldn't be so bad if they actually nominated him but they just keep ignoring him.

"I did check the members of BAFTA and he definitely is one!

"David though doesn't seem to be the kind of person to hold a grudge so he'll probably be there."

Another added: "The best of British TV: the BAFTA nominees and the breakout stars who made lockdown bearable"

"So David Tennant is good enough for the BAFTAs as promotion material but not good enough to be nominated despite the great number of acclaimed works he’s been part of. #DavidTennant "

Someone suggested: "Since he wasn't nominate for anything @BAFTA owe him at least a special award if only for the most times they've missed him out."

"They should be ashamed of themselves, they do it year after year, He was brilliant in #Des and #Staged."

David's Staged costar Michael Sheen is instead nominated for his role as supporting actor in ITV's Quiz.
