David Templeton set for Hamilton Accies coaching role as winger pens two-year deal

Hamilton Accies will help David Templeton move into a coaching role after the winger signed a contract extension at New Douglas Park.

It was revealed last night on the OnlyAccies podcast that the winger has penned a new two-year deal, having returned on a short-term contract from Burton Albion in January.

Chairman Allan Maitland told Lanarkshire Live Sport that the 31-year-old would be given his chance in coaching, and hoped the former Rangers and Hearts man would see out his career with Accies.

He said: "We've got a number of players who are out of contract in the summer and are in negotiations with them, but are delighted to get David on a new contract.

"At Accies we pride ourselves on players who put in the hard work, but also who offer something that bit different and David has that.

"He has the ability to be instrumental going forward after getting back this season before the lockdown.

"He's been excellent for us and we are now hopefully going to help David move into the coaching side of things.

"It's a move that we believe benefits all sides.

"He is a player now who I absolutely see finishing his career with Hamilton Accies. Hopefully he will continue to do well for us for many years to come."
