David Templeton seals new Hamilton deal as Mickel Miller and Alex Gogic talks continue

Hamilton Accies have extended David Templeton’s contract until the summer of 2022.

The striker, in his second spell with Accies, was out of contract at the end of next month.

The 31-year-old returned to Hamilton from Burton Albion in January and he's played six times for the club, scoring once in his second spell.

He previously made 36 appearances, scoring 10 goals - including one in a 2-0 win at Ibrox against Rangers.

Hamilton chairman Allan Maitland, speaking on the Only the Accies podcast, confirmed: “We have already signed David Templeton for the next two years.

“We are looking at some of our younger players as well. We have a lot of youngsters that we have an option on and so we have to have discussions with a lot of these kids as well.

“There are a lot of things that are going on in the background.”

The former Hearts and Rangers player was keen to sign a long-term deal in Scotland after he recently became a dad.

Templeton has been a key player in Brian Rice’s squad in their Premiership survival fight.

Accies remain in talks with a number of other key players, like Alex Gogic and Mickel Miller, over new deals.
