David Silva: Man City to build Etihad statue to commemorate club legend

Manchester City have commissioned a statue of David Silva following the legendary playmaker's exit after 10 years at the club.

Silva, 34, has left Man City following a decade of success at the Etihad, winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

The Spain international arrived in Manchester from Valencia in 2010, making 436 appearances for the club.

Given his importance to the club's success over the last 10 years, City have commissioned a statue of Silva which will stand at the Etihad Stadium.

City have also announced that a training pitch at the club's Football Academy will be dedicated to Silva, with a bespoke mosaic of the World Cup winner.

The unveiling of Silva's statue will follow that of another club legend, with Vincent Kompany also due to be immortalised with a sculpture in 2021.
