David Silva explains the key behind Man City treble success

David Silva says Manchester City's unprecedented treble of domestic trophies this season is the product of manager Pep Guardiola's insatiable appetite for improvement.

The Blues won the Premier League title last season and fought off stiff competition from Liverpool to retain the title for the first time in their history.

City won their last 14 games in a row to pip Jurgen Klopp's side by a single point and Silva, for whom it was a fourth league title, says Guardiola has taken City to a level not many thought was possible.

"He's really clear with things," the 33-year-old told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. "He works on every aspect.

"The extent to which he has brought the team on is really impressive.

"We won the league last year and this year too and I think we're doing things that people didn't think were possible for us to achieve.

"His hard work and his philosophy are paying off."

Guardiola has overseen five major trophies in three seasons at the Etihad, and paid tribute to City's most successful-ever squad as the Blues paraded the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup around Manchester city centre on Monday night.

"Without them, it is impossible," he said. "The players cannot do it alone, I cannot do it alone. We push each other.

"They are my right arm, brain and everything. When you are alone, it's boring. It's much better to do it together."
