David Schwimmer in agony after bursting his eardrum into swimming pool

He put on a brave face during the Friends reunion, but David Schwimmer has been in agony for months after bursting his eardrum larking about.

The actor, 54, gave himself an inner ear concussion by falling sideways into a swimming pool for daughter Cleo, and now has tinnitus.

He was in such intense pain he had to reschedule filming for Sky.

“I was trying to make my daughter laugh,” the actor explains. “I was standing at the edge of the pool and wanted to make her laugh so I did a kind of dead fall into the pool and I slammed my ear at such a perfect angle that I immediately ruptured my eardrum.

“That healed eventually after six weeks, but then a whole new condition migrated into both ears and gave me a combination of tinnitus and something called hyperacusis.

“It’s been seven months. It’s crazy. I have bad days and good days.

“If I talk too much and at significant volume, it generates the ringing.”

Filming on the second series of Sky One’s Intelligence had to be rearranged.

“I had to take different medications just to be able to get through shooting without real pain at times,” he says.

“I still feel I’m learning how to behave because I was quite cranky a lot.”

A justifiable reason for Ross levels of rage.
