David's Bridal Glasgow store announces closure after US owner files for bankruptcy

David's Bridal has launched a huge closing-down sale in its flagship Glasgow store with customers able to get up to 60 per cent off their shopping - and take a dress straight off the rack.

The mega sale comes after the wedding dress retailer, which started in the United States, went into administration earlier this year after the owner filed for bankruptcy.

Alongside Glasgow, the retailer also has stores in Birmingham, London, and Watford - opening its first store in the UK in 2013.

More than 150 people are employed by David's Bridal in the UK across its stores.

The US parent arm of the company filed for bankruptcy, in April this year, amid the announcement that 9,000 roles would be cut from its workforce with a similar process launched in Canada.

The Glasgow store, on Kings Inch Road, is set to close with a large sale sign erected across the store windows.

It reads: "Closing down. Up to 60% off. Buy and take away today. Everything reduced."

The bridal chain last month had a 40 per cent off sale as they attempted to flog their stock.

A spokesperson at David’s Bridal told the Record: "There are some fantastic deals to be found in-store, it’s a great opportunity for customers to pick some amazing bargains for their special occasions as everything is reduced.

"We expect ranges to sell out fast so don’t wait long before heading to your closest David’s Bridal store. We’d also like to thank all our customers over the years for their support."
