David Raya believes ‘it’s a good time to play’ Man United as Brentford look to pile misery on Erik Ten Hag

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya believes it is a “good time” to play Manchester United.

Erik Ten Hag will take his side to west London on Saturday having already seen them beaten by a team working on much lower resources, with Brighton winning at Old Trafford on the opening weekend.

With United looking disjointed for swathes of their defeat on home soil, a well-coached team look like the worst kind of opposition for Ten Hag during the early days of his tenure.

While Thomas Frank’s team lost on both meetings with United last season, Brentford pulled off their fair share of eye-catching results against the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Arsenal were beaten in west London, with Liverpool also held to a draw there, while Frank’s side romped to a huge victory away at Chelsea.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Raya revealed he believes Brentford, who twice fought back to claim a draw away at Leicester last weekend, are catching United at the right time.

“They need time, so I think it’s a good time to play them,” he said.

“They are a sleeping giant, one of the best clubs in the world, but they still have to adjust to the new ideas of their manager."
