David Ospina head injury: Arsenal wait for update after goalkeeper collapses on the pitch

Arsenal are seeking an update from Napoli on the condition of goalkeeper David Ospina after his blow to the head during Sunday's match against Udinese.

Ospina, who is on loan at the Italian club, collided with Udinese’s Ignacio Pussetto early on in the match.

The Colombian received treatment and carried on playing as Napoli’s two-goal lead was cancelled out by Udinese. Shortly before half-time, however, Ospina collapsed on the pitch. Several of his team-mates rushed to his aid and called for medical staff to enter the pitch.

Ospina was instantly treated before being taken hospital, where he underwent tests. Napoli announced last night that a CAT scan was clear but Ospina remained in hospital overnight under observation.

Napili manager Carlo Ancelotti downplayed fears of the injury. “Fortunately it’s nothing serious, he’s conscious,” he said.
