David Ortiz got a huge ovation at Fenway Park in his first time back since shooting

David Ortiz was back home Monday night, as he made his first trip to Fenway Park since he was shot in the Dominican Republic.

The Red Sox legend looked great as he bounded out of the dugout and ran to the mound to throw out the first pitch before the Red Sox-Yankees game.

He picked up a mic and told the crowd: “I want to thank God for giving me a second opportunity in my life. I want to thank the Red Sox, my real family; they have always been there for me.”

This was great to see, as Ortiz had to go a number of surgeries after the shooting and many feared for his life.

Monday was a celebration as he threw the first pitch to his former teammate, Jason Varitek:
