David Njoku on his chemistry with Baker Mayfield: ‘it’s great’

Browns tight end David Njoku recently boasted he has a goal of catching 20 touchdowns in 2019. While he dismissed that sort of boasting, Njoku still trumpeted his chemistry with Baker Mayfield and how he thought he wasn’t going to be a Cleveland Brown in an interview over the weekend.

Njoku spoke with Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com at the tight end’s youth football camp in his home state on Saturday. Among the topics: Njoku’s chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The third-year TE mentioned the group workouts in California organized by Mayfield.

“It’s great,” Njoku stated. “We actually were in Los Angeles working on timing and chemistry and ball placement and everything. Odell, Jarvis, Hollywood (Rashard) Higgins, Baker, myself, Pharoah Brown, Seth DeValve, Demetrius Harris. A bunch of guys came out. It was great.”

Njoku also revealed in the interview how he thought the New York Giants were going to draft him. Instead, New York selected Evan Engram a few picks before the Browns landed Njoku.
