David N'Gog speaks out on Mohamed Salah's goal for Liverpool against Manchester United

Mohamed Salah's goal against Manchester United on Sunday has had several Liverpool fans reminiscing.

The Egyptian ran on to a long pass from goalkeeper Alisson and after getting away from United's Dan James, finished expertly beyond David De Gea.

Alisson was so thrilled at the goal he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate with his teammate, recreating Pepe Reina's spontaneous sprint to congratulate David N'Gog in 2009.

N'Gog's goal also ensured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool's and Alisson revealed after the game his celebration was a tribute to the former Reds goalkeeper Reina.

And speaking to Liverpoolfc.com , N'Gog remarked how similar the goals and moments afterwards were.

"It's unbelievable how close it is," N'Gog admitted.

"It's different play of course – he has a longer run and he read it well against the defender.

"But that was in the last minute, against Man United, it's brings back memories.

"I was at home but I was with my family as well. I saw the two goals and I was happy because it's Liverpool and it's really important this season.

"It was exciting. To be honest, at that time I was just watching, not thinking about the goal before.

"But when I saw the replay and saw it was similar – and the celebration, of course, with Alisson running. It was really, really funny to watch."

Liverpool's official Twitter account posted a video of the goals side by side and it makes for great viewing for all Reds fans.
