David Moyes 'wants' Everton return as pressure builds on Marco Silva at Goodison Park

David Moyes would be willing to make a shock return to Everton if Marco Silva is sacked.

The Portuguese is under increasing pressure at Goodison Park and Moyes, who left Everton for Manchester United in 2013, is the bookies favourite to replace him.

Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham in 2018 and was heavily linked with the Celtic job after Brendan Rodgers left.

But he wants a return to the Premier League and has turned down offers in the Championship and League One, report the Mirror.

But the 56-year-old, who also managed Real Sociedad and Sunderland post-United, is now the heavy favourite to become the next Toffees boss – for the second time.

Moyes managed Everton between 2002 and 2013 after joining from Preston North End, overseeing 518 matches and leading the Toffees into the top four in 2005.

Silva is on the brink at Everton after a woeful start to the Premier League season, despite a summer spend in excess of £100million.

Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League, having picked up just seven points from eight games, with Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Burnley making it four defeats on the spin.

Silva is the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, although he is set to remain in charge for Everton’s next game, after the international break, at home to West Ham on October 19.

The odds on Moyes becoming the next Everton boss dropped from 7/4 to 5/6 with bookmaker Paddy Power.

Manchester City coach and former Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is an 8/1 shot while ex-Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez, currently managing in China, is 10/1.
