David Moyes slaughtered by Celtic fans after revealing his interest in Hoops job

David Moyes might be "interested" in the Celtic job - but it seems Hoops supporters are anything but keen on the prospect of him taking over.

The Scot has been out of work since last May after guiding West Ham United to Premier League safety.

His stint at the London Stadium helped restore his reputation after failed spells at Sunderland and Real Sociedad and a difficult time following in Sir Alex Ferguson's footsteps at Manchester United.

We told earlier how the prospect of a return to Celtic interested Moyes , the club where he kicked off his playing career in 1980 and where Neil Lennon is currently in charge until at least the end of the season.

He told BBC 5 Live: “I would always interested but I have got to say Lenny’s done a brilliant job. He’s been there before and I think the job he is doing at the moment would warrant him being the Celtic manager.

Our story sparked a flood of replies on social media.

But unfortunately for the 55-year-old, the vast majority were firmly against the notion of Moyes in charge with the Hoops chasing 10-in-a-row.

@kevingraham95 echoed the thoughts of many when he tweeted: "I’m interested too but we both have the same chance of getting it."

And @frankie_gault quipped: "Anybody who tells you they’re the man for you, isn’t."

@Danny69151688 said: "Ex-Celt. But don't think he is the man for the job!!"

@SionnachAirgid said: "Celtic fans reveal interest in David Moyes not becoming Celtic's next permanent boss."

While @keezo7 simply wrote: "BOLT!!!!"

However, @Lisbon_1967HH wasn't totally ruling out the idea, arguing: "Don't want Davie Moyes personally but I'd rather have him than Lennon or Roy Keane. Lennon for me will be a backward step and totally underwhelming appointment after Rodgers. Keane would cause uproar in the dressing room."

Rangers fans piled in too with @Gxllaxy claiming: "As a Rangers fan, currently any manager for Celtic will still beat us. In my opinion the manager has a role and effect on outcomes of games but it is the players who get the result. Celtic have the upper hand. Me not being bias that's all."
