David Moyes slams "terrible" defending as West Ham's winless run continues in Leeds draw

David Moyes has described West Ham's defending as "terrible" in their 2-2 draw against Leeds - as the pressure continues to ramp up on the Hammers boss.

Wilfried Gnoto gave the Whites the lead with a terrific finish, although Moyes would've been furious after the Hammers gave the ball away to the Italian international in the build-up. The 18-year-old then played a one-two with Crysencio Summerville and buried the ball beyond Lukasz Fabianski to break the deadlock.

However, West Ham responded well to going a goal down and levelled on the stroke of half-time when Lucas Paqueta levelled. The Brazilian remained composed from the penalty spot to lift his penalty past Illan Meslier as the Hammers went in level at the break.

Gianluca Scamacca gave West Ham the lead just after the interval with a terrific long-range strike. But Leeds didn't give up and levelled through Rodrigo, who hit double figures for the season as he struck an emphatic finish into the far corner from the edge of the box.

In his post-match interview, Moyes said: "I felt as if we had the chance to pick up three points. To come away from Leeds United with a point is good but it should have been three.

"We were under a wee bit of pressure, I thought we looked okay. We've lost a couple of goals from a throw in which is terrible. It's something we need to try and do better than that."

Moyes is a man under pressure with the Hammers just above the relegation zone and level on points with 18th place Everton. They have won just four Premier League games all season, losing 11 and drawing three of their 18 matches.

Meanwhile, Lukas Fabianski added: "I'm not really satisfied with a point. We were in a very strong position after the second goal and an experienced team like we are, we should be doing a little bit more to keep the result. If you look at the whole situation we are in at the moment, we are desperate for points. I believe I made an important save for us as a group because it meant we broke our shameful losing record.

"Hopefully this point will give us confidence as we go into the next games. I believe we fought really hard, this is a difficult place to come, they make it it hard with all their energy.

"We wanted to show heart and the heart, fight and courage was there. Hopefully those characteristics will help us to build a bit more confidence going into he next games."
