David Moyes set to miss West Ham's game with Leicester as Alan Irvine gives update

West Ham United boss David Moyes looks set to miss Sunday’s trip to Leicester City, assistant manager Alan Irvine has confirmed.

Irvine confirmed the news at today’s pre-match press conference as he addressed the media ahead of the game at the King Power Stadium.

On September 22, the Hammers confirmed Moyes, along with players Issa Diop and Josh Cullen, had all tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the third round Carabao Cup tie against Hull City.

Moyes missed that 5-1 victory against Hull, and has been absent for the 4-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and the 4-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Everton.

It was understood that Moyes would be back on media duty this week after his period of isolation had ended, but Irvine admitted that was not the case as he faced reporters instead at the club's pre-match press conference.

Irvine said: “He's not been in as we hoped he might be. He is OK but we are still following all the guidelines and protocols. It's been deemed that it's not right for him to come in just yet.

“At this moment it will more likely be he will not be on the touchline at Leicester but that can change during the course of today and tomorrow.

“We will carry on with how we have been working in his absence.”
