David Moyes sees Pep Guardiola's influence on Mikel Arteta's Arsenal ahead of West Ham test

David Moyes worked with Mikel Arteta for seven years at Everton and the senior man believes Arsenal are already starting to show signs of a Pep Guardiola style of football in north London.

Arteta was an assistant to Guardiola at Manchester City before departing to take up the manager's job at Arsenal after Unai Emery was sacked in December.

Arsenal have lost just twice since Arteta was appointed, though they have drawn a fair few games too and were knocked out of the Europa League by Olympiakos last week.

Arteta and Moyes go back a long way, with the Scotsman bringing the Spaniard to Merseyside from Real Sociedad on loan in 2005 before making the move permanent.

Moyes then sold the midfielder to the Gunners in 2011 for £10m after a fruitful time together in the north west which saw Arteta become his captain.

Arteta has learned from Guardiola at City, who won the Premier League twice in a row, but are set to relinuish that crown this year to Liverpool and Moyes believes he can already see the former Barcelona manager's influence on Arteta.

"I think tactically when you watch the way they play there’s a little bit of Man City," Moyes said.

"That obviously comes from the years hes worked with Pep hes taken a little bit of that.

"I don’t know about saying they’re in transition but I think there in transition in as much as they've got a new manager whose trying to implement a style which he believes in and I've got to say his style wouldn't be a million miles off what Arsene Wenger did in the past so I think Mikel is a good choice to do that."
