David Moyes says Manchester United treated him differently to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David Moyes believes the key difference between him and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United is that he wasn't given the same amount of time to succeed as the Norwegian.

Moyes was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor in 2013 but didn't survive his first season in charge as defending champions United struggled in the Premier League and missed out on Champions League qualification.

The former Everton manager signed a six-year contract when he took over at Old Trafford but was sacked just 10 months into his tenure before being replaced by club legend Ryan Giggs for the final four league games of the season.

United have again turned to a club icon to guide them forward in the shape of Solskjaer and the club are starting to get back on track after a seven-year spell without challenging for the Premier League title.

Moyes believes Solskjaer deserves praise for the way he has promoted youth talent at United, but says the current manager is benefitting from having the type of backing he never did.

"It's a wonderful club and a brilliant place to be, and the biggest club in the world, for me," Moyes said at his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham's trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday. "It's always a special place to go and I'm looking forward to going back.

"Ole had a difficult start, but the difference between Ole and me is that he's being given time. He's bringing players in from the Academy, which Manchester United has always stood for. They've got some really exciting young players of their own now."
