David Moyes reveals interest in Celtic job as he makes Neil Lennon admission

David Moyes has revealed his interest in becoming Celtic's next permanent boss.

But the former Manchester United manager believes Neil Lennon is on course to be named as Brendan Rodgers' full-time successor.

Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham in May 2018 and is looking to rebuild his reputation after unsuccessful stints at Old Trafford, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

The former Hoops centre-back admits he could never turn down the chance to manage the Parkhead club.

He told BBC 5 Live: “I would always interested but I have got to say Lenny’s done a brilliant job. He’s been there before and I think the job he is doing at the moment would warrant him being the Celtic manager."

Meanwhile, Mikael Lustig is set to hand Lennon a huge boost ahead of Sunday's clash with Rangers.

The Swedish international sat out last night’s Euro 2020 clash with Norway having sustained a thigh injury four days previously against Romania.

Lustig, however, is poised to go straight back into training at Lennoxtown on Thursday having responded excellently to treatment.

He said: "If the match had been Wednesday night, I think I would have been playing."

Asked if he’d be fit for the clash, Lustig added: “I think so. I will train on Thursday and then we will see.”
