David Moyes responds to Michail Antonio’s comments over West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham United manager David Moyes says he has no issues with striker Gianluca Scamacca following the recent comments from Michail Antonio over the Italian.

In a podcast released earlier this week, Antonio said that while Scamacca was a “quality player” he said that the Italian’s playing style did not suit that of Hammers boss Moyes and suggested he did not show enough fight when playing to be leading the forward line in a Moyes team.

Antonio’s comments on the Italian, who has missed the last two months of the season after undergoing knee surgery, have created quite the stir on social media, especially coming just days before the Hammers take on Fiorentina in the final of the Europa Conference League in Prague next Wednesday.

Asked about Antonio’s comments on whether Moyes needed to do anything to address them, Moyes said he has no issues with Scamacca but remained tight-lipped over what Antonio actually said.

“I've got no issues with Gianluca,” said Moyes. “Gianluca is a terrific player, a really good footballer, someone who we really like but unfortunately, he’s been hit with injuries for periods of this season.

“Micky has his own opinions but we're not getting into that.”
