David Moyes has given an honest and open assessment of his 10 months as Manchester United manager.
It's eight years since the Scot - now at West Ham - replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford dugout as United attempted to press forward into a new era.
Unfortunately for Moyes, supporters and everyone associated with the Premier League giants, that transition from Sir Alex's trophy-laden reign proved to be as difficult as predicted.
Even to this day, United are yet to get their hands on the top-flight crown since Ferguson's retirement.
Moyes, on the other hand, continues to lead the Hammers with distinction - and they, once again, look set to upset the party when it comes to European qualification.
That might even prove to be at the expense of United and under-pressure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
Defeat in the Manchester derby has left Solskjaer and his star-studded team nine points off the pace.
So how, exactly, does Moyes reflect on those ill-fated months when he found himself in the very same position?
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 58-year-old said: "I look back with unbelievable fondness, but great disappointment I didn't do well enough to get longer than 10 months. I believe that I deserved longer, but that's not my decision.
In hindsight should Moyes have been given more time? Have your say in the comments section below.
"My style would be to build a club, like I feel I did with Everton - and rebuild them. I didn't need to build Manchester United. I was following and I wanted to follow Sir Alex.
"There was obviously going to be a change of the guard there a little bit, regarding players at the time. But overall it was a great experience, just one, unfortunately, for me was a bit too short."
